Skin Texture

Understanding Skin Texture

Unwanted skin textures on the face, including large pore size, dryness, superficial wrinkles, dullness, the “orange peel” effect, and acne scarring, can detract from a smooth, glowing complexion. However, there are several effective Medspa treatments available to address these concerns and improve skin texture and tone without the use of laser skin resurfacing and excessive downtime.

HydraFacial

HydraFacial is a non-invasive, multi-step  treatment that combines the deepest cleansing, exfoliation, extraction, hydration, and antioxidant protection to rejuvenate the skin. Using a specialized handheld device, HydraFacial gently removes dead skin cells, unclogs pores, and extracts impurities, revealing smoother, more radiant skin. The infusion of hydrating serums and antioxidants helps to replenish moisture, improve skin texture, and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. HydraFacial is suitable for all skin types and can be customized to target specific concerns, such as large pores, dullness, and mild acne scarring.

Chemical Peels

Chemical peels utilize various acids, such as glycolic acid, salicylic acid, or lactic acid, to exfoliate the skin and improve texture and tone. By removing the outermost layer of dead skin cells, chemical peels promote cell turnover, unclog pores, and stimulate collagen production. This results in smoother, brighter skin with reduced pore size, diminished fine lines and wrinkles, and a more even complexion. Chemical peels are available in different strengths and formulations to suit individual skin types of all ethnicities.

Microneedling

Microneedling, also known as collagen induction therapy, involves the use of very  fine needles to create controlled micro-injuries in the skin. This stimulates the body’s natural healing response, leading to increased collagen and elastin production, and improved skin texture and tone. Microneedling is effective for reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, minimizing pore size, and fading acne scars. It can be performed alone or in conjunction with topical serums or growth factors to enhance results. We utilize a proven  safe, FDA cleared, microneedling unit that prevents cross-contamination from person to person and is highly effective.

Subcision of Acne Scars: Definition and Efficacy

Subcision is a minimally invasive surgical procedure used to treat depressed acne scars. This technique involves inserting a small, specialized needle or cannula under the skin to break up the fibrous bands of tissue that tether the scar to the underlying structures. By releasing these bands, subcision allows the skin to lift and smooth out, promoting the formation of new collagen and improving the appearance of the scars. The bio stimulator, Sculptra, can be used in the same Treatment to continue healthy collagen building effects for the next 2-5yrs

Subcision is a well-regarded treatment for various types of depressed acne scars, including rolling and some boxcar scars and is performed by our experienced nurse practitioner.  It is often used in combination with other treatments such as fillers, microneedling, or laser therapy to enhance results.

Patients can expect an average improvement in scar appearance ranging from 50% to 80% after a series of treatments.

According to clinical data, approximately 70% to 90% of patients report satisfaction with their results, often noting substantial cosmetic enhancement.

The collagen produced as a result of subcision continues to remodel and improve the skin’s appearance for several months after the procedure, contributing to long-lasting improvements.
